Two years ago I started thinking about a ceramic project. In my mind I saw it as a floating mosaic. I convinced a lovely and very patient lady called Susie to give my crazy idea a go. Then began all the phaffing around that is part of bringing a ceramic fantasy to life. Deciding the clay type (porcelain, stoneware) and the glaze/stain. Then multiple glaze tests followed by tears of frustration and then tears of joy. Finally mixing slip, colouring the slip, rolling the clay, forming the tiles and popping them in the kiln.
Cut to today and all that thinking, dreaming and scheming is coming together. I would like to present to you the first sheet of my floating mosaic.
